Ascension Day Retreat at Trelowarren

There were 19 of us in all, we gathered together at Trelowarren at 10 o'clock, enjoying a welcome cup of coffee on arrival. Bill, Olive and Debbie divided the day between them.

Debbie started us off â€' she read the story of Zacchaeus the tax collector, and left us with a number of questions to study, think on and pray about.

Olive spoke to us next with a reading from Mother Julian and then directed us to go on a prayer walk. We were reminded that the Holy Spirit is with us and encouraged us to talk to God's spirit as we walked, sharing and enjoying what we see. Later we enjoyed a good lunch together before Bill spoke to us.

He read Paul's experience on the road to Damascus, how this totally changed Paul's direction in life. In a time of quiet we were then encouraged to pray about God's will in our lives. We then went into the chapel at Trelowarren and shared communion together. All too soon it was 4 o'clock and after a cup of tea it was time to head for home.

I feel that everyone enjoyed the day. It really is good to be right away from all the usual demands of our lives and to be able to have time to talk, pray and enjoy God's creation. Something Debbie said has made a particular impression on me: "How long ago did God plant the seed that has led to your being here today?".
