Worship Leaders’ Course

Worship Leaders’ Course

Have you ever thought that leading worship could be exciting?

A small group of us attended the above course and spent two of the most beautiful Saturdays in Olive’s garden listening and discussing with Pam Lewis how to lead worship.

We knew that an act of worship can take many forms such as reading from the Bible, intercessions, arranging flowers, singing, dancing and so much more. It made us realise how much we take for grated when we walk into our Church – we expect to be welcomed with a smile, given our books, to sit and look round at the beautiful flowers and gleaming brass, heating to be just right (not too hot and not too cold). We also expect to be able to follow the service ‘ something which visitors find difficult when we jump from page to page! Once all these things are in place we can relax and spend time with God and still have time for a cup of tea after the service!

We now had to consider how to plan a service – what a shock to find we couldn’t just chose all our favourite songs, book someone for a sermon, throw in a Bible reading and fill in with prayers!

It’s always best to pray first then be ready for the ideas to come. Choose a theme and work round it with a suitable.Bible Reading. choose some lively and some prayerful songs..During prayers people need time to say sorry and ask for forgiveness, to be thankful and pray for the sick and needy. We also need to be entertained – a strange choice of words but even Jesus entertained the.crowds with various parables.

It was a lot to take in over a short space of that hit afterwards I though it was a lot like cooking. You collect all the ingredients and blend them together and once cooked out comes a cake to be proud of!

I think everyone on the course gained a much deeper insight into how much goes on behind the scenes for every service of worship. Dining this interregnum we hope to be able to help in any way we can and ask for your support with your prayers and patience as we continue to learn and grow in the family of our Lord Jesus.
