ST. MARTIN'S SINGERS ' A.G.M. 2007
During the year the Singers joined in April with the Church dance and drama groups and others to produce "Snakes and Ladders" by Roger Jones, a Christian musical: a major event and we are looking into producing another one.
We supported the Church Choir at services for Easter, Ascension Day, Worship Leaders' Commissioning, Civic Service, Harvest Festival, RSPCA Animal Welfare, Remembrance Sunday and Christmas (9 Lessons and Carols and Midnight Communion). We also sang at the farewell to the Rector, our President, and at a Morning Service led by Ken and Jan Jones.
We also sang joyfully at the weddings of Julie Geach and Janet Ford and also attended the funeral services of past members Joan Axe, Doreen Wighton and Betty Haines.
Our outreach events were mainly in the Christmas period when we told the Christmas Story in modern readings and carols at the Tregenna House Nursing and Mount Pleasant, St. Clair and Gladys Holman Residential Homes. We sang carols at the switch-on of the Camborne Christmas Lights and participated in the Nativity in the Town Square (complete with real camel!) organised by Churches Together.
In the summer we sang to the Senior Citizens' Club. Social events included a Barbeque at the Rectory and a visit to Country Skittles. Although we lost some members we welcome the return of 2 former members and 3 new ones, so we end the year on a hopeful note and with thanks to Ken Jones and Caroline Gundry for their sterling efforts. We are pleased to sport our smart blue fleeces and to continue to sponsor Danggwa, now 13, in her Thai orphanage ' see latest picture.
