Inky Fingers

Dear Friends

"Growing in Knowing"

Well, 6 months down the line with our interregnum â€' not long as "Exiles" go! I understand that our "Parish Profile" has gone up to "them" at the Diocese who are coordinating filling the vacancy â€' so watch this space! I know there are other vacancies, but I am sure that we can offer a challenge to meet any of them. I think we have shown here that we are open to sound new ideas â€' for instance, I never imagined that dance would come to form such an important part of our worship and I stand happily corrected. It is a busy parish â€' ask Rev. Olive! â€' and I remain buoyant in my belief that we can afford to wait for the right person for the job: man or woman, now there's a question! Our Parish Representatives (Penny Menear and Edward Pascoe) have an important job to do, so we pray for them as they get on with it. Please do not push them for details â€' they may have to kill you! This is to ensure fairness and thoroughness without undue pressure. However I have no compunctions about playfully nipping any exposed ankles …….. !

Moving on, for the last few years we have had an annual theme for our activities, and I am intrigued to see that Rev. Olive has selected "Growing in Knowing" for this one. Prayer and Bible studies - in groups or privately, in meditation or with guidance notes â€' have always seemed to me to be most effective when people not only share but listen and explore, honestly and bravely, in fellowship. Beliefs and experiences certainly, but also applications to current issues. We make time to know someone special â€' God deserves no less. I am sure He wants us to know Him as well as to accept Him. There are groups with Fiona and Olive in our Church and Marlene can help you with material.

Off now to keep my eye on the ball â€' there's a superwide TV down at the pub! Cheers for now!

Yours in fellowship

Peter Holman
