SPECIAL EVENTS
Sunday 22nd February
Bishop Roy will be with us to celebrate our ministry. All leaders will be commissioned or recommissioned including the worship leaders, the pastoral ministers and pastoral visitors – the lay ministers in our ministry team. It is a day to acknowledge those who work so hard and to thank God for the ministry he gives us.
Friday March the 6th is the Women’s World Day of Prayer
Women’s World Day of Prayer is a global, ecumenical movement of informed prayer and prayerful action, organised and led by Christian women who call the faithful together on the first Friday in March each year to observe a common day of prayer and who, in many countries, have a continuing relationship in prayer and service.
The service is written by a different country each year and that country then becomes the focus of the world’s prayers on the day itself, which begins as dawn breaks over the islands of Tonga in the Pacific and continues across each continent until the last services of this special day are held back in the Pacific, on the islands of Samoa, circling the world in prayer for 36 hours.
‘IN CHRIST THERE ARE MANY MEMBERS YET ONE BODY’ PAPUA NEW GUINEA
The theme chosen for Women’s World Day of Prayer 2009, “In Christ There are Many Members Yet One Body”, is very appropriate for Papua New Guinea (PNG) as the country has many languages, cultures, traditions and beliefs. Although the people are different in many ways they continue to experience the spirit of unity in diversity.
Please see church notices for details of services and come along in this wonderful way to pray together with people on a world wide basis.
Sunday March 29th
Our new Bishop, Bishop Tim will be with us for the day. He will be at our 10.30 service in the Parish Church and will preach. He is looking forward to meeting as many as possible so do come and stay for coffee in the hall afterwards.
